Intelligent way to understand the communication is to know the true essence of what it implies. Chris Cole mentions six basic foundation forming communication.
1. Everything we do is communication
Humans are full of messages of verbal and non-verbal, intentionally and unintentionally. All our words are just the tip of the iceberg-only about 7 to 24 percent of the message, depending on the situation.
2. The way the message is delivered always affects how the message is received.
Message is more than just the words we use. The volume and sound pressure that we use, which we do eye contact, posture and movement to us, it helps the recipient to translate our words and interpret it.
3. Communication is the message received, not expected to be accepted.
A message is very easy to be accepted in a way that is very much different from what we expect. It is fair to say that communication is the actual message that is received by others-whatever our true intentions.
4. The way we started the message often determines the outcome of communication.
Sometimes we have an event where we were not supposed to get treatment, when someone started a conversation.
5. Communication is a two way street, we have to give not just receive.
There are two important elements in successful communication ie, members useful information and gather useful information. On the one hand, we want to convey our perspective in a way that is very clear, precise and persuasive.
6. Communication is dance.
Because it involves give and gather useful information, communication is more than just giving and receiving a message. This is a two-way process. Communication is something that happens between or among a group of people. We do it together. For example, a book in itself is not communication. Communication occurs when you, the reader, to understand the message of this book. If no one reads the book, and because it is no one who understands, no communication takes place. We have symbols on paper.
